Rack Hub
Rack Hub:
Having a deer head, turkey fan, fish mount, or “enter said game” is an excellent way to showcase and remember a successful trip to the outdoors.
Growing up we always had deer heads in the house, and if you have ever visited my father's law firm, for friendly visits I hope, you would see Bear, Coyotes, Elk, Geese, Boar, Trout, Bass, Swordfish, Antelope, Ram, Muleys, and I am likely forgetting some others. The point is that we surround ourselves with these items as memories of great trips we have taken, and likely, wonderful meals shared with family and friends. However, not all locations are aesthetically pleasing to have a deer head staring and that is where Rack Hub comes into play.
So what is Rack Hub? Rack Hub is a company that created a way to display antlers “where modern meets tradition”. Their displays are made from metal, are classy, and discreet. Mount the RH2 bracket to a wall or desired location. Instructions below are from RackHub’s Website.
1. Use the included 5/16" bit to drill into the base of the antler. (approximately 1 inch in depth)
2. Place the provided insert into the base of the antler.
3. Place each antler onto the hex stem (attached to the ball).
4. Adjust antler positioning by rotating the ball and tightening the top knurled cap.
5. Step back and enjoy your trophy, knowing that you can remove the antlers at any time.
So why did I look into Rack Hub? I was given a set of Caribou antlers from a friend who lives in Maine. I Googled and used Pinterest to find a way to display them that wasn't going to break the bank, but it was a struggle. I did see Rack Hub as an option, but at the time they only had displays for whitetail or smaller antlered animals like Antelope or Mule Deer. After reaching out a few times asking if the company planned to produce larger mounts for Elk and Moose, they finally announced the RH2 XL.
So to test the product, I ordered two RH2’s to try out on my first buck and a dandy 8 point I plan on keeping around as memories of “Tic Tac Toe” (another article on my blog.)
My two bucks used to be European mounts set on top of two pottery displays I made while in college. Now that I am moving in with my fiancé and into the city, we don't really want skulls staring at us as we walk around our living and bedroom. So the Rack Hub RH2 was the best way to display my memories without collecting dust and screaming that there is a little red on my neck. Overall the product gets a 9 out of 10. It is incredibly well made and will likely last a lifetime. The packaging is small, lightweight, and comes with amazingly detailed instructions. The only way to mess up your installation is if you do not follow the directions.
The only thing I can say that did knock off that 10 out of 10 was the price. It's a bit steep, but once received and on the wall, you will be happy. Check out Rack Hub’s webpage and see all the different ways to display your new and old sheds. I love mine and definitely will need more in the future.
