Poshmark-Slightly Addicting

Poshmark:

Poshmark is an app for selling and buying used and unused clothing. My sister introduced me to it a few years ago, and from time to time I have to delete it. It can be terribly addicting and sometimes fun when haggling a seller for the best price.

Poshmark has been incredibly handy when finding nice clothes for work. You simply download the app, enter your size, enter some of your favorite brands, and begin shopping. Being new to the work force and eating ramen noodles to stay under budget, I will pounce on a deal when I see one. I believe the first article of clothing I purchased was a Peter Millar shirt for work. The caption said “Nothing wrong with the shirt. Husband too lazy to iron.” Good enough for me! So I began to bid and purchased a practically brand new Peter Millar shirt for $48 vs retail of $115.

I have found a few awesome deals on there. The Masters Polo, Quail Hollow Polo, Orvis Suede Jacket, Filson Shirts, Frye Boots, L.L.Bean moccasins, and even some damn nice Cole Haans that I had never seen before for $23. No joke-  they had not ever been worn and came in the box. Here is a list of exactly what I check for when I log in. I look up: Filson, Orvis, Peter Millar, Fairway and Green, Barbour, and a few other brands.
You literally never know what you might find. I found a pair of L.L. Bean Chippewa Boots that they have not sold since the 90’s. My dad has had a pair for years and I know them as his deer hunting boots. When those bad boys come out, you know a deer is going down. I have always wanted the exact same pair but could never find any. When I saw them on Poshmark with the sole in perfect condition, I had to buy them. $35 bucks and they are mine.

The name of the game is to aim low and meet in the middle. My Frye boots are $375 in the store and the person wanted $150. I started low and ended at $71. If you have ever seen Pawn Stars, just do what they do. Low ball, low ball, low ball. Only twice have I ever received something I was upset with the quality and both times I got my money back.

If you have never heard of Poshmark then go ahead and download it. Enter your sizes and give it a whirl. Just don't get too addicted like I used to be. It can be a lot of fun, but try to stay off of it when laying in bed. Or when you get drunk. You might end up with a $800 watch you love, but regret. ~
