The Vaquero Chair by Chama-A Christmas gift that will be enjoyed for years.
John Dutton has one, Liam Neeson reads in one each night by candle light, and they are the secret to Betty White’s inability to age. None of these statements are true, but recieving a Vaquero Chair by Chama was pretty exciting.
My path to owning two Chama Vaquero Chairs was a bit unusual. Chama Vaquero ads filled my social media feed, and I seriously wanted to purchase them. However, I just got married... and moved, and we need to use funds for other things. So, I would look longingly at them on Instagram, while sitting beside my wife, wondering if there was any way she would agree to get them. Thinking I knew the answer, I didn't muster up the courage to even ask. So you can only imagine my surprise when she says, “Hey, my dad wants to get us these chairs for Christmas. What do you think?”. So,I got lucky!
First impressions are everything when it comes to items like this. The social media build-up is ridiculous right now, as these chairs are all over the hunting, outdoorsman, and Texas scene. It is comparible to buying that of a Traiger Grill or Yeti. You know you dont need it, but boy do you want it. The packaging is as tasteful as a cardboard box can be. They could easily ship them in a plain box, but much like Tecova Boots, they add a bit of design, making it more of an experience than a purchase.
To be honest, I must say that they are just chairs. That's right, I said it, it is just a chair. Yet, after putting it together, and sitting in it, I realize it's a pretty damn comfortable chair. The materials used are sturdy, too. I am not a thin guy, by any means, and when I sit on the chair, it does not settle, creek, or rip. It has a sturdy wooden frame with strong metal hinges. The fabric is a tough canvas material that is removable for transportation or storage. It comes with a very sturdy bag, with room for the frame, as well as a zipper section for the cloth seat to fold up and be placed inside. The bag itself is durable, and the zipper is huge and feels indestructible, compared to that of a backpack or pair of jeans. “And we all know some jeans are fixin to rip”
Overall, I am pleased with the Chama Vaquero Chairs. They are very good looking, and I am sure we will get a lot of use out of them. The main takeaway, if you have not already picked up on this, is the word sturdy. You can get a folding chair for as low as $19.99, but it will rip, dry rot, and be thrown away shortly after purchase. These are in a totally different league. Expect to have them for a very long time. At a price of $149.95, it can be a bit daunting, but trust me, these are worth it…especially if they are a gift from your father-in-law. So here’s to him!
