Texas Rig - Bass Fishing Made Simple

Let me start with saying that I am not an incredible rod and reel fisherman. Over the last year or so I have stepped up my interest as I live in areas where fishing is just too easy to do. I can come home from work and just walk to a pier in any direction and wet a line. What I have found is that one specific set up works magic and that is the Texas Rig.

I have used spoons, roosters, frogs, and any other lure you can think of, but recently using a Texas Rig has worked the best. So what is a Texas Rig and how do you set it up? All you need is a hook, bullet weight, and thick rubber worm. You can find all of these at Walmart, Bass Pro, Cabelas, or any local fishing shop across North America.

So how do you use this rig? What I have found to be most successful is to bounce it off the bottom. So cast, let the weight hit the button, and begin bouncing it up and down off the bottom.Video Demonstration Here at 1:50 Cast under trees or in the thick of the lilly pads. With the hook not quite sticking out, you can go places other lures would simply just get stuck. If you are bouncing and the line tightens up, just loosen the line and the rig should drop off of what ever it almost got stuck on.

In regards to knowing when a fish is on, you will know.

So if you are enjoying the Fall weather and want to get outside on or around water, bring a rod and give this set up a try. Its worked for me and I am sure it will help you.
